British Consulate In Jerusalem To Release £60K To Help Palestinians

Announcement called on NGOs to help ‘the most vulnerable Palestinians as well as support to boost the PA’s economic resilience’

The British Consulate in Jerusalem has said it will release up to £60,000 to support Palestinian communities struggling with the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.

In an announcement on Tuesday, the Consulate said it was “working closely” with the Palestinian Authority (PA) and called on NGOs to help “the most vulnerable Palestinians as well as support to boost the PA’s economic resilience”.

The Consulate said: “We are keen to ensure that our support continues to reach those who are most vulnerable to the multifaceted impacts of COVID-19. To that end, we have a small amount of programme funding to support an NGO in providing assistance to vulnerable elderly people in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.”

Proposals should focus on providing “targeted support for the most vulnerable elderly people in the Palestinian society,” it said, adding that this may include support systems in elderly care, psychosocial support, and assistance to safeguard carers.
