Autopsy photos of Marília Mendonça, part of the police investigation into the singer’s death in November 2021, have been leaked in WhatsApp groups. The singer’s team confirmed this information in a conversation with Splash.

The artist passed away in a plane crash in the city of Piedade de Caratinga, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Robson Cunha, the family’s attorney, expressed “complete outrage at the released material,” according to an official statement from the artist’s team.

The singer’s mother, Ruth, chose not to comment on the matter, only asking for people to show respect and empathy, and to understand that there is a family suffering every time situations like this occur, as stated in part of their statement.

The lawyer considers it “inconceivable” that exclusive documents from a confidential police investigation, subject to access restrictions, have been released in an “irresponsible, inhumane, and criminal” manner.

“Throughout the entire time, from the accident until the release of the bodies, we worked tirelessly to prevent such a serious situation from happening. […] This is a very serious matter, and both the state and the individuals who released the images should be held accountable.”

The official statement also concludes that individuals who share the content are committing a crime and can be held legally responsible.
