Premier League Appoint Paul Cleal As Equality Advisor To Board

 

Paul Cleal has been appointed as equality advisor to the Premier League Board of Directors, it was confirmed on Wednesd

The experienced Cleal has been a member of the top-flight’s Equality Standard Panel for three years and will now look to advise both the league and individual clubs on anti-discrimination policy, programmes and BAME progression.

Following confirmation of his appointment, Cleal – who has spent 30 years in both the public and private sectors, including 16 years working for multinational professional services network PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) – said in a tweet: “I’m very pleased to be taking this work forward for the Premier League over the next few months.”

Meanwhile, Premier League chief executive Richard Masters expressed the league’s happiness at securing the appointment of someone with Cleal’s extensive knowledge, experience and expertise as they look to further develop their anti-discrimination policies.

Cleal was appointed as an OBE in the most recent New Year’s Honours List for services to diversity and inclusion.

“We are delighted to have Paul join as Equality Advisor to the Premier League Board as he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in an area he is hugely respected for,” Masters said.

“We have a longstanding commitment to diversity and anti-discrimination and we want to ensure we have strong policies and programmes in place which Paul will help us further develop
